Indigenous Students

The University of Newcastle has at least 100 Indigenous graduates across all campuses each year with numbers increasing each year. The Wollotuka Institute provides support to Indigenous students who are getting ready to step out of University through their Success & Collaboration Officer - Adelle Grogan.

The Success & Collaboration Officer can assist you by ensuring you are on track to graduate. Once graduation is confirmed further assistance will be provided through the Institute, such as the use of a limited number of Graduation Gowns and colours.

Wollotuka also hosts each year a separate Celebration across each campus to celebrate and acknowledge each individual.

Collaboration with the University's Careers Service, the community and a number of government departments and organisations also provides 'job readiness' for graduating Indigenous students. This provides the graduates with self confidence to be job ready and the potential to be sought after by employers.

Students are also encouraged to continue on with further studies and to become involved with the Kunnar Indigenous Alumni Chapter.
