Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research) Honours Scholarships
The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research) Honours Scholarships will be offered again in 2012. 40 scholarships will be made available across all Faculties and Research Centres to current honours students. Applications are open to Australian citizens, Australian permanent residents and New Zealand citizens. The scholarship provides a $1,000 lump sum payment to successful applicants of high academic achievement who are likely to achieve Honours Class One and who intend to commence a postgraduate research higher degree in 2013.
In addition to the lump sum payment benefit, successful candidates also receive an automatic three year postgraduate research scholarship (2013-2015) of $23,728 p.a. subject to receiving an offer of admission for a Master of Philosophy or PhD at the University of Newcastle and Honours Class One. To be eligible for this additional benefit an application for admission must have been received in the Office of Graduate Studies by 31 October, 2012.
If you are successful in gaining a DVCR Honours Scholarship you are eligible to receive a University laptop. This computer is a University asset and when you proceed on to a Research Higher Degree at the University of Newcastle, this laptop represents the laptop you would receive under the RHD Laptop Scheme. Should you remain enrolled in a research higher degree for 18 months it is yours to keep (subject to the terms and conditions of the RHD laptop scheme).
