Around Campus - Carpooling
Carpooling with fellow staff and students is a great, environmentally friendly option if you do not choose to use public transport. You might be able to carpool to work every day of the week, share a ride once a week, or you might only just every now and then. Any carpooling has positive outcomes.
The University of Newcastle Carpooling (MyCarpools) is a sophisticated carpool management system that lets you register a trip to see if you can find someone who wants to share the ride. MyCarpools is for all those who wish to carpool. As a user of MyCarpools you can choose to register as a:
- Driver
- Passenger
- Either a driver or passenger
- Share (take turns driving)
You will be able to identify and communicate with potential travel partners without disclosing contact details to them, other than your first name and a Carpooling system identification code.
Organise a carpool with your friends or register with our Carpooling service to find someone who wants to share the ride without having to reveal any personal details.
Tip: Parking permits are transferable between cars so you and your friends can share in costs for parking if you wish.
