How to Enrol

What else do I need to do?

Making the transition to University study can be challenging. What are tutorials and how do you register for them? What do you need to do to get started at university? Where can you go for help? This section is designed to help you on the way to getting a good start at the University of Newcastle. Some of the things you will need to do in your first few weeks include:

Register for tutorials, seminars and practical sessions

You will need to sign up (register) for the tutorials, seminars or practical sessions required for each of your courses. While you can register for many tutorials using the online registration system, not all courses use this system, so you must check the Enrolment site to determine whether your course is available for online registration prior to registering.

Purchase your prescribed textbooks and readings

Your course coordinators and lecturers will supply you with a list of the textbooks, readings and other resources that are prescribed for your courses. You can purchase prescribed texts from the bookshop on campus (United Campus Bookshop on the Newcastle campus and the Co-op Bookshop on the Central Coast campus). You can also check to see whether any of your texts are available second-hand — visit the website for U Your Place on Campus to view second-hand books online.
