Temporary Accommodation - Newcastle
It is a good idea to organise temporary accommodation before you arrive. Temporary accommodation is made available to international students from the time of their arrival in Newcastle until they are able to find permanent accommodation. Reservations for temporary accommodation can be made at: www.visitnewcastle.com.au/visitnewcastle.asp or by clicking on the individual temporary accommodation websites below.
All temporary accommodation that has been organised by the International Student Support Unit staff has been inspected for suitability. Accommodation providers are familiar with the University and can provide advice on how to get to campus.
We have put together a list of temporary accommodation to suit your needs and more importantly your budget! We recommend that you book your accommodation well in advance of your arrival, and book for at least two weeks. Recommended options have been selected for the following reasons:
- The proximity of the accommodation to corner shops, restaurants, cafes or supermarkets
- The proximity of the accommodation in relation to public transport that connects to the university
- Value for money
- The services and facilities on offer.
Services and facilities vary across accommodation options. Higher price options generally offer you greater quality and a wider range of facilities and services. To gain maximum value for money, you may wish to consider sharing a room in a moderate or higher priced option. This way you have access to better quality facilities, while sharing the cost with others.
Budget Accommodation
Cost per night ranges from AUD $21 - $30.
These prices require students to share a room with 1 - 7 others, with lockable bathrooms located on hallways. Bed linen is provided which is usually included in the price, and we advise to bring your own towels.
Facilities include lounge/common rooms, kitchens with all cooking facilities and laundries. Some motel locations have swimming pools and restaurants. For examples of this accommodation visit:
