What is Study Abroad?

This program is designed for students enrolled at an overseas university. The subjects that you study at the University of Newcastle can be credited towards your degree if they have been approved by your home institution.

From Australian Studies to Performing Arts to Environmental Science, the University of Newcastle offers international students a wide variety of interesting, exciting and relevant courses. There are over 2,000 different courses available for students interested in studying abroad at the University of Newcastle.

Study Abroad Fees

The Study Abroad Program (CRICOS No. 013102J) fee for 2008 is AUD $7,000 per semester (or trimester). You should note that if you are enrolled in music courses you may have to pay an additional charge of AUD250 - AUD500 per 10 units to cover the costs of one-to-one tuition. We will send you advice with the Study Abroad offer.

The tuition fees cover all teaching costs and compulsory contributions to the University Union, Sports Union and Newcastle University Student Association (NUSA) or, where applicable, Newcastle University Postgraduate Student Association (NUPSA) for students attending the Callaghan campus or the Central Coast Campus Union (CCCU) for students attending the Ourimbah campus. Additionally, the tuition fees include a copy of the academic transcript.

The fees do not include international and domestic travel, accommodation and meals, textbooks, living costs, any special excursion costs or personal spending or the Overseas Student Health Cover charges.

The tuition fee for the first semester (or trimester) and, where applicable, the Overseas Student Health Cover is payable on acceptance of an offer of a place in a course or a program. Fees are then payable before the beginning of each new course or semester (or trimester). All fees must be paid in full and on time. Non payment of tuition fees by the due date will result in the termination of a student's enrolment.
