Take the next step
The University of Newcastle has strong partnerships with TAFE NSW Institutes to provide students with entry into university from TAFE. Depending on the degree and your results, TAFE qualifications from Certificate III or higher can be considered for entry.
A university degree will make you more employable and increase your earning power. University graduates enjoy higher starting salaries than non graduates and are equipped with skills to keep pace with fast changing work environments. (www.year12whatnext.gov.au)
With the offer ofguaranteed places and strongcredit transfer arrangements for those with a TAFE qualification, there is no better time than now to start your university degree.
Guaranteed Entry for TAFE Graduates
If you are a TAFE graduate with a Certificate III, IV, Diploma or Advanced Diploma, we will guarantee you a place in one of our selected degree programs. All you need to do is decide what degree program you wish to study and apply for a place through Universities Admissions Centre (UAC) www.uac.edu.au
The list of degrees allowing a TAFE qualification for entry varies each semester.See current list
If the degree you wish to study doesn’t offer guaranteed places, you can still use your TAFE certificate III or higher qualification to apply for that degree. Your application will be considered through the normal UAC process.
Getting credit, fast tracking
You can reduce your degree program by up to two years with TAFE study. If your TAFE qualification is similar to the university degree you choose to study, you may be granted credit (in recognition of prior learning) for up to two years of your degree.
If you are studying a degree that normally takes three years full-time, depending on your credit, you could graduate in a little over a year.Find out more
The credit transfer arrangements apply only after you are offered a place at the University of Newcastle and have accepted that offer.
