Applying to uni after Newstep
Newstep students apply for admission to university undergraduate degree programs via UAC. At the end of the Newstep program, you will receive a score based on the average of the marks you gained in each course.
Selection is competitive and is based on academic performance. It pays to work hard to achieve the highest average score you are capable of, giving you more options for your future.
For more information on the undergraduate admissions application and selection process, visit the UAC website.
Note: Students are NOT sent an ATAR by UAC. Students can request their equivalent ATAR admission ranking in person or by telephone at the Foundation Studies office.
What can I study?
Graduates of Newstep can apply for admission to any undergraduate degree program at the University of Newcastle, with the exception of the Bachelor of Medicine. The Newstep qualification is also recognised as an undergraduate entry qualification by most Australian universities.
