Admission Criteria
To be considered for admission into International Foundation, students must meet both English language and academic entry criteria and send a completed application form to International Admissions.
English Language
For admission to International Foundation, students would need to achieve any of the following as proof of their English language proficiency:
- IELTS: score of 5.5 overall, with no sub-test band less than 5.0 in the Academic Module; or
- TOEFL - Internet-based test: 71 internet test overall score of 71 with a minimum score of 16 in writing; or
- TOEFL - Paper-based test: score of 500 or more with a minimum score of 4.0 in the TWE; or
- GCE 'O' Levels: C6; or
- SPM English: B4; or
- UEC Senior 2 English: B3; or
- HKCEE English: C (Minimum D in Writing); or
- HKALE Use of English: E.
Students who do not meet the entry requirements to International Foundation because of English language proficiency may consider the preparatory programs offered by the University of Newcastle's Language Centre.

How to Apply
Students can apply for International Foundation and their nominated undergraduate degree at the same time by using the Undergraduate Application Form.

Certified copies of academic transcripts (e.g. school reports) and proof of English language proficiency will need to be attached to the application, and signed.
The student will need to indicate on their application their undergraduate preferences.

International Admissions will assess the student's application form and provide them with written advice on the outcome of the application.
Fees
The tuition fees for 2013 are AUD $15,000.
Health insurance is compulsory. As of July 2010, students are to pay health care cover for the duration of their visa, e.g. for a five year visa, the student pays for 5 x annual health care cover fee.
