Logistics managers oversee the operational and strategic logistics plans of an organisation. They are responsible for initiating new processes, data analysis, reporting and forecasting. Their main goals are usually efficiency, cost-effectiveness and safety. Another element of this type of work is relationship building with stakeholders and bidding for tenders. Logistics managers who do not work in-house but are employed by consultancies or specialised logistics firms need to bid for contracts. In order to persuade potential clients to choose their proposal, logistics managers often perform competitor analysis and keep up to date with industry trends. Additionally, they are skilled managers of both finances and people. Post-graduate qualifications and extensive experience may be necessary for this role.
