Large, long term projects
"Good plans shape good decisions..."
Lester R. Bittel, The Nine Master Keys of Management
This section of the toolkit is to help communicate about larger projects that will need ongoing communication over a longer period of time (ie. three months or more), for example to raise awareness about a major initiative such as the Excellence in Research for Australia (ERA) initiative or to encourage a long term change in the way we do things such as the email reduction campaign.
Why plan?
Particularly helpful for a large project, a communication plan details clear and specific communication objectives and activities. It should spring from and support your organisational objectives and your brand. To develop a robust communication plan, we recommend you run a communication planning session.
Planning sessions
There are all sorts of things you can cover in a communication planning session. Here is a suggested agenda to keep your communication planning session focused.
Communication plan
The information gathered in the communication planning session, should now inform and build your communication plan.
