Internal Communications Toolkit

Introduction

How we communicate shapes what we understand and how we feel. It may seem obvious, but it can be difficult to do this well.

Increasingly we need to work better together, to use our time wisely and to share information and ideas with colleagues and peers.

Based on our brand idea ‘achievers in a changing world’ this toolkit is a simple guide to creating better communication and promoting our achievements. It provides practical tools and tips to help you get your message across.

The toolkit is separated into three sections depending on your task:

  • Section 1: One-off projects – ideas and tools for short term, straightforward projects to get your message out quickly and easily
  • Section 2: Large, long term projects – a step-by-step approach to developing a communication plan for a project that needs ongoing communication for three months or more or for complicated projects
  • Section 3: Handy tips – from running effective meetings to golden rules for events and everything in between, this section offers advice.

Have a read and try some of the ideas. We hope it is a useful reference and the start of an ongoing process that improves how we communicate across all parts of the University.
