Biography

The combination of an industrial science/engineering background with recently completed research higher degree studies within health science(medicine) has provided me with a good understanding into the practical applications and importance of objective testing for evidence based medicine. My current role is primarily research based investigating the causes and mechanisms involved in refractory chronic cough. I have developed objective cough testing at our research facility within HMRI and the department of respiratory medicine. I like to approach my research from a pratical/clinical perspective by being involved in the testing and collection of data from research participants. Analysing the subsequent data is always interesting and I am rewarded through patient outcomes as well as letting the wider medical community know of our findings through publication in the aim of improving treatment startegies for chronic cough patients and their associated quality of life.
