My research is focused in the general areas of aquatic ecology and ecotoxicology. Specific interests include biochemical and physiological stress responses due to contaminant exposure with emphasis on energetics, response of benthic invertebrate communities to perturbation, amphibian toxicology, development of toxicity tests, and landscape level assessments of aquatic habitat quality using GIS.

In my current position as Professor and Chair in Environmental Science and Management, I work closely with my colleagues to collectively lead this new discipline and provide vision as we grow and "fine tune" our course offerings and educational experiences for our students.

I lecture in both core and elective courses in the Bachelor of Environmental Science and Management. These currently include ENVS1001 (Environmental Science Concepts and Methods) and ENVS3004 (Ecotoxicology). In Semester 2 of 2012, I will also be teaching in a revised version of SRMT2030 (Sustainable Water Management).
