Research expertise

Dr Flora Tzelepis is a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow with the Health Behaviour Research Group at the University of Newcastle. Her PhD comprised of a large randomised controlled trial of 1,562 smokers that used ‘cold calling’ recruitment to offer smokers NSW Quitline support. Dr Tzelepis was awarded the Research Higher Degree Excellence Award for the Faculty of Health for 2010 for her PhD work. Dr Tzelepis has also worked on numerous other research projects.

Dr Tzelepis has published 31 peer-reviewed research papers. Dr Tzelepis was recently awarded a 3-year Leukaemia Foundation of Australia/Cure Cancer Australia Foundation Fellowship (2011-2013). Her fellowship project assesses blood cancer survivors’ perceptions of the care they received. In 2011, Dr Tzelepis received the University of Newcastle’s Priority Research Centre for Health Behaviour Certificate for Outstanding Academic Contribution for Significant Publication Output as an Early Career Researcher.
