Biography

Dr Clare Lloyd's background is in communication and media studies and includes both academic and industry experience. Her specific interest is in digital media and communications research and teaching. Her broad range of media industry experience includes: Public Relation, local radio producing, and multimedia production.

Research expertise

Clare was recently awarded her PhD (Media Arts and Communication Studies) in the area of mobile phone communication, identity and discourse. Titled: 'I heart mobile phone': a discursive study of identity processes through mobile phone communication. She was awarded the University Medal in 2004 and Education and Arts Faculty Medal in 2005 for her overall academic achievement and her first class honours research.

She recently published a chapter in the Handbook of Research on Discourse Behaviour and Digital Communication: Language Structures and Social Interaction. She co-edited the 'Placing Mobile Communications' special edition Australian Journal of Communication with Scott Rickard & Gerard Goggin in 2009.
