Introduction
Yong-Ling Ruan joined the University of Newcastle (UoN) in 2008 and has served as the Director of Australia-China Research Centre for Crop Improvement since its establishment in 2008.

Research
Research Interests
By using a combination of molecular, biochemical and cell biological approaches, Ruan's group focuses on:
- Sugar transport, metabolism and signalling in relation to seed, fruit and fibre development; and
- Molecular control of water flow, senescence and programmed cell death.
