Introduction
Maryanne Dever is an Associate Professor in the Film, Media and Cultural Studies programme in the School of Humanities and Social Science. Before coming to the University of Newcastle in 2010 she held positions at the University of Sydney, the University of Hong Kong and Monash University where she was Director of the Centre for Women's Studies and Gender Research.

Research
Research Interests
Maryanne Dever's research interests encompass feminist literary and cultural studies and applied social research. Her current research focuses on issues of intimacy and materiality in relation to the research practice (methodology) for and the socio-cultural status of archived objects. She is working on a series of projects involving either the scholarly editing of significant series of personal correspondence between principally women writers and/or reflexive considerations of archival practice in this area. She also has on-going research interests in the area of gender, work and higher education.

Research Supervision
Maryanne Dever is an experienced supervisor and has supervised more than 16 higher degree theses to completion. While she is interested in supervision across a range of topics in feminist literary and cultural studies, she would be particularly interested to work with students on the following: engagements with literary archives; key questions in gender and higher education; gender and cultural production.
