Finding Journal Articles

The Library catalogue, NEWCAT, only allows you to search for the names of journals held by the Library, not the articles that appear within the journals. To find what articles have been written on a particular topic, you need to search in a database or use a printed abstract or index.

Indexing & abstracting services provide access to articles published in journals, and some also index other publications such as conference papers, reports, patents or chapters in books. Most are available online via the Internet. A number of the online databases to which the Library subscribes include full text articles.

The Library does not hold or have online access to all the journals indexed in these databases. Some databases include the Library's holdings, but others do not. For articles found in those databases, you must search the Library catalogue to find if the Library has these journal titles.
