Meditation is a skill which, with practice, enables you to still and soothe the mind and relax the body.
When you work and study most of the time, it can be difficult to stop thinking about what you have done or need to do next! This mental tension is translated into the heart, resulting in feeling of anxiety and stress, and into the body, resulting in muscle tension and/or headaches and fatigue.
True relaxation relaxes the mind, the heart and the body. Meditation is one way to achieve inner peace and to release tension. It can be done quickly, anywhere! When you deeply relax all parts of yourself, you feel refreshed and re-energised.
Various types of meditation and relaxation are offered. There will be opportunities to discuss your experience. This group is not related to any religious or spiritual belief.
These are free drop-in groups. Don't worry if you can't make it exactly on time or have to leave a little early.
For both beginners and people experienced with these techniques.
Usually run by Stephen Faiers but the Tuesday group is currently suspended while we find a new room.
Weekly Thursday meditation groups are held in RW2-44. (If you don't know where this is, email Janet Carr Janet.Carr@newcastle.edu.au ahead of time for directions).
There is no meditation group on Thursday 6th November, it will resume on Thursday 13th November.
All welcome!
