Branding And Use of Images

Branding

Design and layout of the website is centrally managed through the web team, in conjunction with branding requirements from the marketing unit. Any web page branded with the University of Newcastle logo must adhere to the web style guide.

Web Style Guide

This style guide is to be used when creating, maintaining and managing content. It aims to ensure that brand, design, navigation and editorial consistency is achieved across all areas of the University website.

Use of Images

Images should be made web ready, which means they should be sized appropriately for web use. All images should be 320 x 240 at 72dpi, medium compression in jpg format. Gif and png files are also acceptable file types. Due to the size of tiff and bmp files, these file formats cannot be used. Animated gif files should be used with caution or not used at all. If you do not have a photoshop licence, please send the original image to the web team for processing.

Web pages must not contain 'copyrighted' material, including images, text and software, without the written consent of the copyright owner. Images should not have a drop-shadow placed on them. All images must contain an alternate attribute with an appropriate description of the image. Please refer to the web style guide for further information on images.
