"I loved being friendly and helping people in need, who didn't know exactly what was going on or what to do and it just gives you a good feeling"
"Personally, I learned a lot of new information that I wish I had known a year ago when I first started. I have also made new friendships with other students and staff".
“The mentoring week was simply my best uni-life experience so far. Truthfully, I didn’t expect it to be that awesome, but it did actually left me missing it. Lots of new things learnt, lots of new friends made. Thank you … for opening the door to such a gem.”
“It was a very valuable experience for me over the past three days, and I actually got over a lot of stage fright that I have always had. So thanks a lot, and I hope to do this next year”
“Just a short note to thank you for allowing me to be part of the mentor programme this year. I have had a great time and cannot wait to hopefully participate next year. I am also looking forward to seeing my mature age students in the library over the next few weeks and find out how the are going…”
“…the mentoring has been great I’m having heaps of fun and have helped so many people, the main thing I found people have needed help with is finding their way around uni. Luckily there are SOS students everywhere you turn so people have been able to ask for help. Some of course didn’t want to ask but when I offered assistance they asked where to go.”
"When I started, my mentors so inspired me I am eager to become a mentor for new students next year. She was very bubbly and enthusiastic, so it made me feel so much less nervous with everything being so new, and so different, especially coming straight from HSC and High School."
“I just want to say that, as a first year student, I have appreciated the idea of having student mentors. Thanks to all the mentors that have been so helpful. I am looking forward to being one myself next year! Keep up the great work.”
