Vacation Scholarships

The aim of vacation scholarships is to provide students with an opportunity to undertake supervised research in an area relevant to their program of study. The students are not meant to commence their Honours topic nor should they be undertaking research assistant work for academic research areas.

It is expected that the program will include any of the following elements as appropriate: an introduction to research methodology, literature reviews, statistical and/or data analysis, interviews, experiments, project design or laboratory work.

In the 2011-2012 summer vacation period around 100 Summer Vacation Scholarships were offered. Typically the scholarships will range from 6 - 12 weeks in duration with a value between $1000 and $6000.

Faculty/School/Externally Funded Vacation Scholarships

During the Summer Vacation period November - March and the Winter Vacation in July, a variety of Faculty/School or externally funded Summer Vacation Scholarships can be made available for students by completing this form and submitting it to the Scholarships Office.

The conditions for Faculty/School externally funded summer vacation scholarships may be more flexible than those for the University-funded scholarships. The duration, eligibility, selection criteria and the benefits are negotiable (although a minimum payment to the student of $125 per week is required).
