Compliance
The University of Newcastle is committed to delivering its strategic and operational objectives in accordance with the law and principles of good governance, and with honesty, fairness, trust, accountability and respect (University Code of Conduct). To do this, the University must comply with a diverse range of State and Commonwealth legislation, regulatory requirements, and internal policies and frameworks. Each of us contributes to the University's Compliance position in our day to day activities; in abiding by the law, adhering to University policies, participating in training and in reporting compliance issues when they arise.
The Compliance Policy can be found in the Policy Library. The Policy aims to assist the University in its efforts to appropriately manage compliance obligations and is an important element in the University's approach to effective business management with appropriate examination of risk. The Compliance Policy conforms to the Australian Standard AS 3806 - 2006 Compliance Programs, and is supported by the university's Compliance Framework and the Register of Compliance Obligations which lists the University of Newcastle's primary legislative obligations. In striving to understand and manage compliance at the University of Newcastle, we aim to ensure the University is held in high regard across the sector by the ethical execution of its business operations that models the University's Code of Conduct.
