Visitor Parking and Day Permits
The permit options outlined below allow for parking in General parking areas, signed as "P". Day permits are not valid for Disabled, Reserved or Service Bays. Day permits can be used to park in a general staff bay if used in conjunction with a staff validation permit.
The University's Traffic and Parking Rules are enforceable throughout the whole year, including semester breaks 24 hours a day 7 days per week. Parking restrictions and speed limits are enforceable. All drivers must comply with the parking restrictions and speed limits on campus.
Scratch and Display Day permit
This type of permit is valid for one day and must be purchased in advance. Permits must be clearly displayed on the vehicle dashboard, with the correct month, day and date scratched. The current cost of the scratch and display day permit is $4.20.
Scratch and Display day permits can be purchased from:
- University Cashiers, level 3 Student Services Centre
Machine Vended day permit
This type of permit is valid for one day and is available from coin & credit card operated permit dispensers at the following locations:
- At the main entrances to the University
- In car parks, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 12, 13, NIER and Conservatorium (City precinct)
- Ground and middle levels in the multi storey car park (the top floor is staff only parking)
The permit must be clearly displayed on the vehicle dashboard with the date and time of issue face up. The machines take $2, $1, 50c, 20c and 10c coins. The machines do not give change. The cost of the machine vended day permit is $4.20 for coin and $4.45 for credit card.
Free Parking
Free parking is available in Carpark 15 which is located near the Ray Watt Oval and Carpark 16 which is located near the railway station both are on the Eastern side of the campus. You can view Carparks 15 & 16 on the campus map.
Motorcycles
Motorcycle parking on Callaghan, Ourimbah and Newcastle City Precinct campuses is free, and no permit is required. Motorcycles must be parked in a designated motorcycle parking bay only.
Mobility Parking
Visitors who have an RTA Mobility Permit displayed are eligible for free parking in Disabled, Staff and General car parking spaces. Please note that RTA Mobility Parking Scheme conditions apply.
