MovingOn Email List
Latest News!!! We're piloting a page on Facebook.... more information shortly!
Currently.... the email list works like this!
This Hunter and Central Coast email list, "MovingOn", has been established for students who are completing their school, TAFE or University studies and "moving on" to the next stage of their lives, and who have a disability or ongoing medical condition. The great thing about signing up for 'MovingOn' is that you're able to stay connected to a supportive network during the time you're getting ready to leave, and after you leave your studies, and link to reliable information when you need it! You can stay connected for as long as you like.
To subscribe email kay.dean@newcastle.edu.au with a request or phone (02) 4921 8844.
The idea of the list is that you can send a message to movingon@newcastle.edu.au, and staff who are subscribed can help answer any questions you have about further training, education, employment, or other services. You can identify messages from the list as the subject line starts with [MovingOn]. As a safety net, only people who are subscribed can send messages to the list.
It's really important to let us know if you change your email address because we'll have to add your new one in. Just send Kay (kay.dean@newcastle.edu.au) a message. This is also the case when you're ready to unsubscribe.
Everyone Sees Your Message...
The most important thing to know about "MovingOn" is that when you send a message, everyone subscribed gets to see it and the answer that is sent back (which is the whole idea! - you can bet that someone else was wondering the same thing but may not have asked it yet). If you'd like to ask something a bit private, you should probably just email the list owner kay.dean@newcastle.edu.au, or ring on (02) 4921 8844, and Kay can help find the answer for you.
Information for Staff
The list is managed out of the University of Newcastle by the National Disability Coordination Officer, Kay Dean, in collaboration with staff from the NSW Department of Education and Training, Catholic Schools Office (Maitland-Newcastle Diocese), Hunter Institute of TAFE, and other post-school services and organisations.
The list will work in much the same way as DEN-list (the staff list) in that, following subscription, students can post messages to the list and staff can respond to any questions they have about education, training, employment, or other services (details on how to send messages are contained in a "welcome message" sent on subscription). Parents and guardians are also welcome to ask questions.
Staff from the school sector, TAFE, University, Centrelink, and other post-school services like 'Transition to Work' Programs and Disability Employment Networks, are on the list to provide support and information. List subscription is monitored, and only people who are subscribed can post messages.
