Biennial AASE Conferences are the key professional development opportunities for staff in the Hunter and Central Coast Regions of NSW working in special education or with people with a disability. Staff from other areas of NSW, and other states, are most welcome to attend.

The AASE Executive (Hunter Branch) strives to keep registration fees as low as possible to promote the participation of all staff who wish to attend.

About the Conference

The AASE Executive has always sought to bring together a valuable, practical and diverse program. At the 2008 Conference we secured two international speakers - Professor Barry Carpenter, Professor of Early Childhood Intervention, University of Worcester in the UK, and Brenda Smith-Myles, Associate Professor at the Department of Special Education, University of Kansas. Brenda's colleague, Jill Hudson, an Autism Consultant from the Ohio Center for Autism and Low Incidence, also presented a workshop on the main Conference Day. All of these speakers were published authors in their various fields.

Who Should Come?

School special education and mainstream staff (including student teachers), staff from the VET and higher education sectors working with students with a disability, disability services staff, staff working in disability employment services, apprenticeships centres, related services, government and non-government agencies. Parents of students with a disability are also most welcome to attend.

Convenors

AASE (Hunter Branch) convenes these Conferences every two years in collaboration with the sectors to deliver a topical and relevant program.
