The Biennial 2009 Accessing the Future: Assistive Technology in Education and Employment Forums follow the successful 2007 events in Sydney, Newcastle and Bomaderry (which attracted more than 600 participants), and the 2005 and 2003 Forums held in the Hunter. The Forums are organised and sponsored by the National Disability Co-ordination Officer (NDCO) Program. The same Forum Program is offered at each venue along with a large Expo featuring key assistive technology and related suppliers from across Australia.
In order to provide comprehensive access to this low-cost (just $70!) training and awareness day, the Forum is offered in two NSW locations. Everything you need to know about the Forums and the respective venues is available on this website - linked on the left!
The Program includes a range of practical information about the types of assistive technology available for use in the education and employment sectors, and will focus on presentations by staff who are using assistive technology in their sector, and by people with a disability using the technology themselves to participate in education, training and employment. There are many valuable journeys to listen to and technologies to see, and the Planning Committee is very excited about how the Program has come together. Go to the Program page.
Registration for these full-day catered Forums is $70, and includes a 4 GB flash drive pre-loaded with AccessApps and other resources. Why not go to both so you can participate in more sessions?! These events should not be missed as they are a valuable staff development opportunity and information source for people with a disability. Go to Registration page
The Forums are designed to provide information and practical advice to:
