Share your studies with Family and Friends

It is important that you let your family and friends know your University schedule. This means they can arrange social and other events when you are less busy throughout the semester.  Also, advising them of your Uni highs and lows mean that they can provide encouragement and support that may help you through your studies.

You are not alone

As a first year student you may, at times, feel overwhelmed by the University. You may also think that you are the only person that is feeling overwhelmed. Remember that you are not alone! Uni is a brand new experience for every commencing student. Don’t be intimidated by the change; give yourself time to adapt to this new environment, ask for help if you need it, and stay positive about being a University student!

Meet New People

Building a support network at the Uni can really help in succeeding at University. Having friends, lecturers, tutors and support staff means that there are many people around you that know your circumstances and would like to help you succeed.

A good way to meet sudents and academic staff is to introduce yourself in your tutorials. Tutes provide not only an academic resource for study and group work, but can be a place to seek advice from people that may know a little more about how to succeed at University.

PASS can also be a great place to meet other students in your course.
