Subscribing and unsubscribing from a mailing list

A directory of University of Newcastle mailing lists can be viewed at:
http://mailman.newcastle.edu.au/mailman/listinfo/

Some mailing lists are open to anyone who wants to join them, while others require an approval from the list owner.

Joining a mailing list is called ‘subscribing’ and leaving a list is called ‘unsubscribing’.

Subscribing

Below is an example of subscribing to a mailing list, using the all-uni-staff list.

  1. To subscribe to this list, open a web browser, and type http://mailman.newcastle.edu.au/mailman/listinfo/all-uni-staff
  2. Enter your email address in the relevant box. You may enter your name if you wish.
    As this is a closed list, your request must be approved by the moderator, and you will be emailed when/if this occurs.

Unsubscribing

Below is an example of unsubscribing from a mailing list, using the all-uni-staff list.

  1. To unsubscribe from the list, open a web browser, and type http://mailman.newcastle.edu.au/mailman/listinfo/all-uni-staff
  2. Scroll to the bottom of the page. Enter your email address in the Unsubscribe or edit options box, and click on the Unsubscribe or edit options button.
