Using Direct Quotations Appropriately

When to use direct quotations

It is best not to use too many direct quotations within an assignment unless the nature of the assignment dictates that you need to.

A general guide for the use of direct quotations is to use them when you wish to give your argument further credibility or weight and you feel this is best demonstrated by using the exact words of the author.
