The near operator specifies how close search terms are to each other.

When you use the near operator it usually searches for the two terms occurring within the same sentence or paragraph.

The closer the search terms occur to each other the more relevant the results.

ADJ (adjacent) operator searches for terms that are adjacent to each other, in the order they are entered.
