Inserting citations into footnotes

Some referencing styles, such as Chicago and AGLC2, require that citations are added into the footnotes area of a document.

To add a citation in a footnote:

  • Within your Word document, place your cursor at the point where the footnote is to be added
  • From the Word Insert menu, select Reference > Footnote, then Insert
  • The curser will now appear in the footnote area, where the citation can be inserted using one of the methods described for Adding citations to a Word document.
