Compatibility across different versions and platforms
EndNote is available in both a Windows and MAC version. All files created in one platform are compatible with the other.
EndNote Version X can read libraries created in EndNote Version 5 and later (PC or MAC).
Version X automatically converts libraries created in earlier versions into the Version X format. Once libraries are converted to Version X they cannot be opened again in an earlier version of EndNote.
Documents formatted with EndNote X cannot be edited or reformatted with EndNote 7 or earlier versions. This could create problems for researchers collaborating on a paper, if they are using different versions of EndNote.
