Import filters

Not all databases support Direct Export. However, you can still transfer references to your EndNote library using EndNote's Import process.

EndNote uses import filters to interpret the information in a data file, and map that information to the corresponding fields within an EndNote record. Each import filter is designed to work with a particular database.

A filter is selected to match two critical elements:

1. The name of the database searched. For example, Medline.
2. The “Information Provider” from whom the University of Newcastle Library purchases the database. For example, the University Library subscribes to the Medline database via OVID. However, Medline is also available via other providers such as CSA, EBSCO, OCLC, etc.
