Searching Basics and complete tutorials

ICYouSee Pages - This site uses humor to provide a good beginning introduction to use of the Web, geared to no specific audience. There are several lessons, each one short and concise. There is a glossary of web terms and a trouble-shooting guide called "What went wrong". (Ithaca College Library)

TILT: Texas Information Literacy - you need to register to use these, but they are free. The tutorial is organized in three modules on selecting, searching and evaluating internet resources, which you can complete in any order. Each one should take you 30 minutes

Internet Navigator - a comprehensive tutorial to planning and carrying out your Internet research.

The RDN Virtual Training Suite - trains you how to use the web according to your discipline area.  Tutorials for Psychologists, Nurses, Artists, Chemists, Engineers, Theologians, Bioresearchers and many, many more.

Finding Information on the Internet: A Tutorial - Teaching Library Internet Workshops, University of California, Berkeley - very wordy but covers it all.

net.TUTOR - Ohio State University Libraries has developed a series of quick one-screen tutorials/information pages on a range of Web topics, including online discussion groups and evaluating web sites.

Evaluation of Selected Internet Search Tools - A very useful site which discusses various aspects of Alta Vista, DejaNews, Excite, Galaxy Search, Harvest Broker, HotBot, Infoseek Guide, Lycos, NlightN, Open Text Index, SavvySearch, WebCrawler, and Yahoo! Search. The *Evaluation of Selected Internet Search Tools* link will take you to a list of search engines broken down into four large categories - Top Searching Tools, Specialized Internet Search Tools, Finding People, and Finding Software
