This 20 minute session will demonstrate the EndNote software, with Word, the journal databases and library catalogues.

Learning Objectives: At the conclusion of this session participants will understand:
What Endnote is and how it can help with study and research Why it would be useful to learn this software How it works with word to create references and bibliographies, and databases and catalogues for electronic export of information How to obtain a copy of the software What training and support is available.Registration: Registration is not required and numbers are not limited, simply attend any of the sessions below on the time and date that suits you.

EndNote enables researchers to save records found in journal databases, and organise references and create bibliographies simply and automatically. EndNote is the modern alternative to typing bibliographies and using index cards to organise references. It is a useful tool for improving the accuracy and efficiency of citations in academic and research publications.

- Create an EndNote library
- Manually add references to the EndNote library
- Store PDF and other documents with the EndNote library
- Search & sort the EndNote library
- Select appropriate reference styles
- Use Cite While You Write to insert references from the EndNote library into a Word document, and create a bibliography

This session will cover the basics of importing records from journal database searches into an EndNote library. Session times are listed below.
Limited to 12 attendees per session at Callaghan and 15 attendees at Ourimbah Library
Duration: 1.5 hours
Prerequisite: *Compulsory. Introduction to EndNote session or experience using EndNote, as well as experience using journal databases.
Learning Objectives:
At the conclusion of this session participants will:
- Demonstrate an awareness of the options available for importing records into EndNote
- Understand the advantages and disadvantages of each of these options
- Download records from database searches into EndNote using each of the options available
- Be aware of duplicate searching techniques
Appreciate the importance of standardising EndNote Library subject headings.

Beyond the basics of collecting and organising information, this session will cover how EndNote can be customised to fit your specific research needs.

- Customise reference type templates and create new ones
- Add references which include images and create figure citations
- Use term lists
- Customise EndNote output (bibliographic) styles.

You will also discover how the Journal Citation Reports (JCR) database can be used to find journals with the highest impact.

- Identify the Perform searches of the databases using simple and advanced searching features
- Understand the basics of citation searching and interpret search results
- Ability to search JCR and interpret JCR journal reporting tools
- Save search results and search strategies for future use
