Reference staff are available to provide help using the library catalogue, indexes, databases and to provide instruction in library research methods. Staff at the Information Desk can help you locate information and resources.

A subject specialised teaching liaison and reference service is available to all staff and students of the University.

A wide range of training sessions is held throughout the year on searching reference databases and the Internet, and in the use of EndNote bibliographic software. Subject specific classes can be requested from the relevant Faculty Librarian.
Confidentialised Unit Record Files (CURFs) contain data from ABS surveys in the form of unit records.
Each Library has a collection of reference books (bibliographies, encyclopaedias, dictionaries etc.) intended to satisfy requests for information - from those of a general nature, such as a request for the address of an organisation, to those of a specific subject related enquiry. Items in the reference collection are not available for loan .
CDROM and Online databases. CDROM databases are accessible from computers located in the Libraries, whereas the online databases allow access to reference resources from outside the library and from home - whether the onlin e Encyclopedia Britannica, Australian Bureau of Statistics data or a range of journal article databases. (If you are using a commercial internet provider, instead of the University, you will not be able to access some databases). Please contact Reference if you have any difficulties.
