Important Changes to the Library Lending Policy
How will this affect me?
Effective Monday 14th February 2005
In Semester 2, 2004 the Library undertook a review of the Information Access Policy. The Information Access Policy covers the Library's collection development and lending policies. The aim of the review was to develop a new policy which addresses the needs of the University community.
As a result of the review a number of significant changes have been made to the Library's lending and access policies whichaffect ALL users of the library.
How will this affect me?
Undergraduate and Honours Students
Undergraduate privileges are as follows
- 15 books for two weeks (increased from 12 items)
- 15 audiovisual items for one week
- Limit of five renewals for book loans providing a maximum loan period of 84 days (12 weeks)
- Limit of five renewals for 3-day loan items
- Up to ten holds can be placed (increased from four holds)
- Fines apply to all overdue items
- Borrowing privileges may be suspended for unpaid fines, overdues or invoiced items

Undergraduate - Architecture and Design Students
Architecture and Design Undergraduate student privileges are as follows
- 15 books for two weeks (increased from 12 items)
- 15 audiovisual items for one week
- 2 journals for three days with one renewal
- Limit of five renewals for book loans providing a maximum loan period of 84 days (12 weeks)
- Limit of one renewal for 3-day loan items
- Up to ten holds can be placed (increased from four holds)

Postgraduate by Coursework Students
Postgraduate by Coursework student privileges are as follows
- 20 books for four weeks
- 15 audiovisual items for one week
- 2 journals for three days with one renewal
- Limit of three renewals for book loans providing a maximum loan period of 112 days (16 weeks)
- Limit of one renewal for 3-day loan items
- Up to ten holds can be placed (increased from four)
- Fines apply to all overdue material
- Borrowing privileges may be suspended for unpaid fines, overdues or invoiced items

Postgraduate by Research Students
Postgraduate by Research student privileges are as follows
- 50 books for twelve weeks
- 15 audiovisual items for one week
- 6 journals for three days with one renewal
- Limit of one renewal for book loans providing a maximum loan period of 168 days (24 weeks)
- Limit of one renewal for 3-day loan items
- Up to ten holds can be placed (increased from four)
- Fines will apply to overdue recall material only
- Borrowing privileges may be suspended for overdue items, unpaid fines and invoiced material

Academic and General Staff
Staff privileges are as follow
- Loan limit of 75 books (increased from 50)
- 15 audiovisual items for one week
- 6 journals for three days with one renewal
- Limit of two renewals for book loans providing a maximum loan period of 252 days (36 weeks)
- Limit of one renewal for 3-day loan items
- Up to ten holds can be placed (increased from four)
- Borrowing privileges may be suspended for overdue items and invoiced items
