Obtaining EndNote

The University of Newcastle holds a site licence for EndNote which permits all current staff and students of the University to use the software at the University of Newcastle or at your principal residence, but is limited to use related to course work, research or other work directly related to your relationship with The University of Newcastle.

EndNote X is the currently supported version at the University of Newcastle. 

EndNote Version X1 is now available for download. It is recommended that you download Version X1 if you are using Office 2007. EndNote Version X and X1 are compatible with each other.

EndNote is available in both a Windows and MAC version.  All files created on one platform are compatible with the other.

To obtain EndNote, either:

• Borrow a copy of the software on CDROM for installation on home computers from any University of Newcastle Library. Check NEWCAT (Title search for "endnote x") for availability. Loans are strictly for 3 days only. A signed and completed copy of the Home Use Agreement for EndNote must be handed to Loans Desk staff when borrowing.
  
  
• Download EndNote from the University's EndNote Download site. Access to this site is limited to University staff and students only - use your Internet username and password for authentication. Note that the files are very large and may take over 90 minutes to download via a modem connection.
  
  
• Callaghan and Central Coast on-campus installations - log a call with IT Services.
  

Conditions of Use

1. The software is available to current staff and students of the University of Newcastle. Your right to use this software ends when you are no longer a staff member or student at The University of Newcastle, and you must remove all installed copies of EndNote from your home computer when you cease being a staff member or student.
   
2. The software may only be used while the University maintains a current license. If the University ceases the site license then you must remove all installed copies of EndNote from your home computer.
   
   
3. The software may be used at The University of Newcastle or at your principal residence but is limited to use related to course work, research or other work directly related to your relationship with The University of Newcastle.
   
   
4. The software must not be sold, lent or given to any other person.

Software Updates

Occasionally, updates and patches are made available for EndNote. It is important that you regularly check for updates - from within EndNote click Help > EndNote Program Updates.
