Registration instructions for first time users

You must register before using this database for the first time.

Description

Books24x7 is an online collection of ebooks, covering the areas of IT and Business. ITPro has more than 3,000 titles and BusinessPro has approximately 2,000 titles.

Information for First Time Users

To register, click on the red Connect button above. On the login page, click on the Register link, and type in your email address. You must use your University of Newcastle email address.
You will then receive an email from Books24x7 with your initial password.
Connect to Books24x7 using the Connect button on this page, not the link that comes in the email.
Troubleshooting.

It is important that you read and understand the Membership Agreement. Particularly note the information on Acceptable Use reproduced below.

Troubleshooting

Please ensure that your enter your full email address exactly. Check for spelling or typing errors, and make sure that you have entered the full address, including 'studentmail' if you are a student.
If you make an error, you will not receive your initial password, and will need to register again.
If you do not receive an email from Books24x7 within about half an hour, assume that you made an error, and go back and try again.
If, when you try to register, you get a message saying: "username is already in use", it means you have already registered, and you will need to return to the login page, and click on the "Forgotten your login information" link. Books24x7 will then send you an email with your password.
The connection link in the Books24x7 email will not work unless you are on campus. You must return to the page and use the red Connect button above.

Acceptable use

Please be aware that you need to use Books24x7 in accordance with the Membership Agreement you accept when you register. In particular note that your access rights can be permanently terminated, as per the paragraph reproduced below. You are given several warnings before your account is disabled.

Books24x7 is an online resource. You may not download content for offline viewing unless explicitly authorized by Books24x7. Books24x7 reserves the right to determine whether user activity on the site is indicative of downloading. At it's sole discretion, Books24x7 may terminate access for any user considered by Books24x7 to be engaged in downloading.

Number of users allowed

Up to 4 simultaneous users.
