Placing a Hold/Request
- Items on Loan. Holds can be placed on items which are on loan to another borrower. On their return they will be put on the Holdshelf to await collection. If the item is not collected within 5 days, it will be returned to the Library shelves or the next hold will be activated.
Clients can have up to 10 holds at any one time.
- Items on Shelf. Holds can also be placed on items which are available on the shelf at a distant location, or in Closed stack, and paged to the pickup location of your choice. Items cannot be paged between Huxley and Auchmuty Libraries with the exception of Closed stack items.

- Search NEWCAT to locate the item to be held
- Click on the Request button
- Type in your Student or Library Card number and PIN
- Choose a pickup location and submit
- Click on Request Selected Item
The screen will display saying that your request has been sent to the Library.
Checking your Holds/Requests
- View your record in MyLibrary
- Type in your Student or Library Card number and PIN, and click on Display record…
- Click on the button showing holds/requests
- Holds and their status will be displayed
Cancelling Holds/Requests
- View your record in MyLibrary
- Type in your Student or Library Card number and PIN
- Click Requests/Holds outstanding
- Select the hold you wish to cancel, then click Cancel Selected Items, OR click Cancel All if you wish to cancel all of your holds
- Click Start Over to return to NEWCAT, the Library Catalogue
Students: You will be notified via Studentmail when your holds are ready to be collected.
Staff and Other Borrowers: You will not be notified when your holds are available unless you provide us with your email address.
