Study Areas

The main student work area within the Common contains specially designed desks or “pods” which are intended to accommodate both individual and collaborative small group study and work. With this in mind, the sixteen ‘pods’ have a varying number of PCs available, with some configurations of 4 PC arrangements and others with 5 PC arrangements, and all with seating to accommodate six to eight students comfortably.

There are 5 Macs for use in the Common and they are located on Pod number 3. Software available on the Macs.

Individual Study Workstations

In addition to the larger ‘pods’, there are 7 individual work station arrangements, which can accommodate two students working together if required. Two of these tables are adjustable to accommodate disability access. Scanners are located on some of these workstations and one is located on each pod..

The AIC operates 24 hours per day during the semester . We need to do regular maintenance  and cleaning on the pcs in the AIC. The cleaning will be done between 10pm - 8am daily, Pods scheduled for cleaning will be closed so the staff can complete all necessary tasks. Please assist staff when asked by relocating to another pod.

The 13 seat training lab provides the opportunity for Library staff to offer relevant training programs within the Information Common environment. The Lab contains 13 PCs and operates as general access when no training is scheduled. Equipment includes data projector, screen and electronic whiteboard.
