The Health Service is open during semester and recess. Our hours at Callaghan are Monday to Friday 9.00am to 5.00pm.
Appointments are necessary (except for emergencies) and are routinely fifteen minutes. If you think you need more time, please tell the receptionist when making your appointment.

We are located on Level 1, Student Services Centre, Callaghan Campus.
After Hours Care
If you need urgent medical attention outside of our operating hours, please telephone on 4921 6000 and a recorded message will give you our after hours arrangements. This practice provides 24 hour care for our patients through GP Access After hours, telephone 1300 130 147, after 6.00pm on weekdays, on weekends from noon Saturday, and public holidays. On Saturday mornings you may attend Broadmeadow Medical Centre, 154 Lambton Rd, Broadmeadow, Telephone 4041 4400. Alternatively in an emergency you may attend the Accident and Emergency Department of either John Hunter Hospital (Lookout Road, New Lambton) Newcastle Mater Hospital (Edith Road, Waratah), Belmont Hospital (Croudace Bay Road, Belmont) or Maitland Hospital (High Street, Maitland).
Doctor's Contact Hours
Each day some appointments are kept for emergencies, so if you feel you need to see a doctor urgently, please discuss it with the nurse. When making your appointment you may request to see a particular doctor.

Dr Stephanie Brookman (MBBS, Family Planning Association Certificate, Workcover Authorised Medical Practitioner) is the Medical Director of the Health Service, has special interests in Occupational Health and Travel Medicine.
Dr Bhawani Murugasu (MBBS) speaks Malay, Tamil and Indonesian and is particularly interested in the health problems of international students and migrants.
Dr Sally Gaunson (MBBS, FRACGP, Family Planning Association Certificate) has special interest in Women’s Health and Paediatrics.
Dr Nayan Shah (MBBS, DipRACOG, DFFP, FRACGP) has an interest in all forms of contraception including Implanon, gynaecology and asthma.
Dr Michael Schien (MBBS, DipRACOG, MRCGP, DFFP) has a special interest in skin disorders and performs minor procedures.
Dr Nerida Paterson (BMed, Dip RACOG) has a special interest in Women's Health and Paediatrics.
Dr Lucy Gupta (MBBS) speaks Hindi and has a special interest in preventive medicine.
Dr Padmini Prasad (BMed. Newcastle, FRACGP) has a special interest in Chronic disease management and counselling.
Dr Carolyn Hackworthy (MBBS) has a special interest in Women's Health.
Registered Nurses
Leanne, Alison, and Margaret work closely with the doctors, attend most emergencies on campus, and treat minor injuries when it may not be necessary to see a doctor.
