Assessment
Assignments
If you have a disability that may impact on your assignments, please discuss your needs with your lecturer at the beginning of semester or as soon as it is evident that you may need adjustments. If adjustments need to be made, discuss these with your lecturer and if required, contact the Disability Liaison Officer to discuss ideas and options.
If you need assistance with writing essays, you may wish to contact the Learning Support Program. The Learning Support Program offers students free and confidential help with language, mathematics and academic skills.
Alternative Exam Arrangements
Alternative Examination Arrangements are available upon application to students who have a disability or chronic illness and are unable to complete the exam without adjustments. These adjustments are available for formal exams, class and school exams, class tests, quizzes and practical examinations.
Students are able to request any adjustment that is required, however the adjustment must be commensurate with the disabling effects of their condition. For example, a student with a severe hearing impairment may request the use of an English dictionary. This is deemed an appropriate accommodation for the disability. A student with a broken arm may request a scribe and the use of an English dictionary. The scribe would be a reasonable request, but the English dictionary would not be. If in doubt, consult the Disability Officer, or ask for documentation that specifies the particular needs and suggested adjustments.
Field Trips
If you have a disability that may impact on your ability to undertake field trips, please discuss your needs with your lecturer at the beginning of semester or as soon as you are notified of the details of the field trip. If adjustments need to be made, discuss these with your lecturer and if required, contact the Disability Liaison Officer to discuss ideas and options.
Placements
If you have a disability that may impact on your ability to undertake placements, please discuss your needs with your lecturer at the beginning of semester or as soon as you are notified of the details of the placement. If adjustments need to be made, discuss these with your lecturer and if required, contact the Disability Liaison Officer to discuss ideas and options.
