NDCO's play a valuable role in helping to increase access and participation rates of students with a disability in tertiary study, and in supporting professional staff across the sectors in their work. They perform a range of functions focused on the development of resources to encourage a cohesive educational environment where students, and people in the community, can plan and participate in the transition process into higher education and employment. This is achieved by working directly with teachers and disability staff in each sector to identify gaps in regional services or appropriate resources, and by establishing supportive professional networks and information bases for students and their families.
