JAWS (Job Access With Speech) for Windows Screen Reading Software

The Centre has JAWS 5.0 screenreading software for the use of students who are blind. Training in the use of JAWS for the University context can be provided to students who are blind or vision impaired.

It is expected that students who need to use screenreading software, such as JAWS, for their university studies will have previously received basic training in its use from an organisation such Vision Australia (formerly the Royal Blind Society). If the student is competent using a computer with screenreading software at a basic level (word processing, internet), Centre staff may then provide students with additional training to facilitate access to the University's computing and information systems.
