University Health and Safety Committee (UHSC)

The University Health and Safety Committee is established pursuant to the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 (NSW) to provide a forum for consultation on Health and Safety matters that may be impacted by the operations of the University and its community.  The UHS Committee will undertake the functions described in Division 4 of the Work Health and Safety Act 2011, Work Health and Safety Regulations ss22 & 23, Code of Practice: Work Health and Safety Consultation, Co-operation and Co-ordination, and Safe Work Australia; Worker Represention and Participation Guide.

The UHS Committee will discuss and make recommendations to promote health and safety best practice to ensure the health and safety of workers (as defined in WHS Act s7 and including employees, person engaged by the University, students and other visitors to the University or engaged in University activities.  The UHS Committee will work to resolve Health and Safety issues, including those matters which have University wide implications or are not able to be resolved following discussion at Faculty/Divisional level.
