The James Joyce Collection

Clive Hart

The University's collection of James Joyce material is perhaps the strongest in Australia. It was begun in the 1960s at the behest of the internationally distinguished James Joyce scholar, Professor Clive Hart (right). The Collection has been further enriched in recent years by the purchase of first editions through the Light Bequest funding. Included in the Collection are Australia's only first edition of Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man and the only copy of Dubliners published in the United States in 1916.
