Digitised Works from the Archive and Manuscript Collections
- The Second B.A.N.Z.A.R.E. (British, Australian, and New Zealand Antarctic Research Expedition) Voyage to Antarctica (1930-1931) - We were fortunate to have had a set of Antarctic images donated to us as part of a larger collection of archives from Mr Jim Downie of Mayfield. We have scanned 53 of these images and made them available via our Flickr site. Gionni Di Gravio, the University Archivist, discussed these photographs during his regular broadcast over 1233 ABC Newcastle, the transcript of which is available via our blog.
- M. Campbell & Co. Pty Ltd, Merchants (1886 - 1942) - Scanned images from the Accounts Books and Ledgers of this Hunter Valley business and enterprise held in the Cultural Collections Unit.
- The Dalton Family Papers - We are proud to present three items from our Dalton Family Archive, donated by Gwen Hamment in June 1999, which includes the full version of Captain John Dalton's diary and log book dating from the 1860s, as well as other treasures.
- The Grainger - Burnard Correspondence 1932 - 1956 - The correspondence from Australian composer Percy Grainger and his wife Ella to composer Alex Burnard and his wife are presented here in full from the the Papers of Alex Burnard Australian Composer 1900 - 1971.

- A Journal Kept By Lancelot Edward Threlkeld . [65MB PDF] An original manuscript Journal belonging to the late Reverend Lancelot Threlkeld (1788-1859), missionary to the Aborigines in the Newcastle and Lake Macquarie areas in the 1820s onward has been digitised and uploaded to the University of Newcastle’s Virtual Sourcebook for Aboriginal Studies in the Hunter Region. There is also some information about this journal on our blog.
